There are always multiple ways to customize an Apple OS and multiple to achieve ones goals. There is a group in Russia who developed an amazing organizer app called 'Outline' and similarly, it wreaks of being ported from a Windows lair that never possessed nor grasped the graphical language and logic of Apple computers. I owned Pathfinder once and have taken the time to observe the developments and I felt obliged to say that throughout their long run, they have never understood the Mac. Note: I have nothing to see with Cocoatech, I am just a Mac user living in Belgium and waiting for the pandemic to end in order to be able to return to Japan and spend a couple of months in Kyoto as I used to. So, I would say, give it a try and you will experience Path Finder Reborn! And I noticed I can even use "preview" on files stored and shared on the NAS, which is not possible with Forklift. And guess what!!! Wow! It proved to be a good move! To my astonishment, it ran smoothly like it used to do in the good all days (till Mojave) without settings vanishing on a next startup nor crashing or hanging. I installed it on both Intel and Silicon Macs running Monterey with a heavy load of settings - graphics, iCloud and NAS. And as most mac users did, I switched to Forklift and banned Path Finder permanently from all my computers.Īnd then, a month or so ago, I received an email from ‘Cocoatech’ with the announcement of the release of the latest version of their product and yeah, I gave it another try.

There is some good, yes excellent good news for all those who loved to use this tremendous piece of software and were upset and saddened to see their beloved file manager on macOS dramatically spiraling downwards during the last couple of years, turning from engineering marvel and Swiss Army knife of file management into a piece of junk.

Otherwise, I will be jumping to the closest alternative Forklift. They want people paying well, they better offer a luxury hammer that doesn't fail, then. So, to make the story short, I bought one year subscription to try it out and report / review everywhere the experience. They don't care of costumers like me that bought the first version and keep upgrading till today. Also, version 11 still doesn't have an FTP to rely on.

Now they want you to pay for the privilege of using their add-on app that by the way IS NOT PERFECT, and it's full of bugs… that they basically ignored. If I buy a hammer, it is because I want to use it when I needed. I don't want to feel obligated to pay every month or year to use a tool.

I upgrade every 2 years, and when I do is because I have a new Mac and I can be up-to-date with my OS I mean, I have Macs running Snow leopard for work reasons.

They did an eye-candy upgrade and because they're using a new code from their partners they want you to subscribe. Now it seems they are struggling for survival, and they partnered with another company. I've been using Pathfinder since version 1.
